PM CARES for Children Scheme Extended up to 28th February 2022

The PM Cares for Children Scheme has been extended by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India until February 28, 2022. Previously, the scheme was good through December 31, 2021. A letter to all Principal Secretaries/ Secretaries, Women and Child Development, Social Justice & Empowerment Departments of all States and UTs, with a copy to all District Magistrates/District Collectors, has been written in this respect.

All eligible children can now be enrolled in the PM CARES for Children Scheme until February 28, 2022. All children who have suffered the following losses are covered under the scheme: Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, I both parents, ii) surviving parent, iii) legal guardian/adoptive parents/single adoptive parent, from 11.03.2020, the date on which WHO proclaimed and defined COVID-19 as pandemic, until 28.02.2022. To be eligible for payments under this plan, a child must be under the age of 18 at the time of their parents’ death.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi promised complete support for children who have lost both parents as a result of the COVID 19 epidemic on May 29, 2021. The scheme’s goal is to provide long-term care and protection for children who have lost a parent or both parents to the COVID pandemic, as well as to enable their wellbeing through health insurance, empower them through education, and equip them for self-sufficiency with financial support once they reach the age of 23. The PM CARES for Children scheme, among other things, provides support to these children through a convergent strategy, gap funding for schooling and health, a monthly stipend starting at the age of 18, and a lump sum payout of Rs.10 lakhs when they reach the age of 23.

The scheme can be accessed via the website https://pmcaresforchildren.in. All states and territories have been given until February 28, 2022 to identify and register all eligible youngsters on the site. Through the portal, any citizen can notify the administration about a kid who is entitled for assistance under this scheme.
