Vishakha Yadav Early Life and Biography

Vishakha Yadav was born in 1994. She was born and raised in Dwarka, New Delhi, where she also attended school. After completing her schooling in Delhi, she later enrolled at Delhi Technological University (DTU), where she pursued a degree in software engineering, and in 2014, she received a bachelor’s degree in computer software engineering. After that, Vishakha started a job as a software developer at Cisco Systems in Bangalore, where she worked for over 2.5 years. She later left her high-paying job in 2017, to chase after her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Vishakha Yadav: Family Background

Vishakha Yadav belongs to a Yadav family, her father’s name is Rajkumar Yadav. He is an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Dwarka, Delhi. Her mother’s name is Sarita Yadav and she is a housewife. Vishakha has credited her mother for inspiring her all the time during her preparation and for her achievements. Almost all of her friends were married, she admitted in an interview, but her parents never talked about marriage with her. Vishakha stated, “They never put pressure on me to get married, get a job, or do anything else.” They completely freed me to create the life I wanted.

Vishakha Yadav: UPSC Preparation journey

Vishakha left her well-paying job in 2017 to focus on the UPSC exams. She avoided social media, including WhatsApp, for over three years while focusing on her education. She spent her days soaked up in books at a neighboring library after attending a coaching center for nearly a year. Vishakha said that in order to release stress and refresh her mind, she would draw, paint, and complete a lot of sudoku puzzles. She would also watch TV shows, interesting documentaries, interviews, and TED talks. Vishakha was unable to pass the preliminary exams in her first two attempts. However, in her third attempt, Vishakha Yadav finally topped the UPSC examination in 2019 by securing the 6th rank. Vishakha claims that shortly after her interview in the third attempt, she began preparing for her fourth attempt since she was unsure of her success.
