UPSC Recruitment 2024: New Notification Out For 85 Vacancies, Apply Online Now

UPSC Recruitment 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is looking for capable candidates for the post of Combined Geo-Scientist Examination. The lower age limit should be 21 years and the upper age limit should be 31 years. There are a total of 85 vacant seats available for the position above. The applicants will be selected through Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test followed by an Interview. The Main Examination will be held on the 21st and 22nd June 2025.

The Main Examination will be held at Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Shimla. The General/obc candidates must pay an application fee of Rs. 200 via the online mode by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment or by using Internet Banking of any Bank and are exempt for Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates. Following the official notification of UPSC Recruitment 2024, interested and eligible candidates who meet the above criteria may apply online through the official website before the deadline. Candidates should only submit one application. Candidates are not required to submit a hard copy of their application at this time.

Age Limit for UPSC Recruitment 2024:

According to the official notification of the UPSC Recruitment 2024, the age limit is indicated below.

  • A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the Examination is to be held [i.e. as on 1st January, 2025].

Educational Qualifications for UPSC Recruitment 2024:

For Geologist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India

  • The candidate should have Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) i.e. recognized University.

For Chemist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) under C.G.W.B-

  • The candidate should have M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

For Assistant (Chemist) Group ‘B’ in C.G.W.B.-

  • The candidate should have Master of Science or Integrated Master of Science in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or Physical Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry or Organic Chemistry or Hydro-Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry from a recognized university or institute.

Application fee for UPSC Recruitment 2024:

The applicants must deposit an application fee of Rs. 200 for general/obc through the online mode and there is no need to pay any amount for Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates for UPSC Recruitment 2024.

Selection Process for UPSC Recruitment 2024:

The mode of selection for UPSC Recruitment 2024 will be based on Preliminary Examination (Objective Type Papers for 400 Marks), Main Examination (Conventional Type Papers for 600 Marks) and Personality Test/Interview ( for 200 Marks) . There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type question papers. The Preliminary Examination will be held at Ahmedabad , Bangaluru , Bhopal , Chandigarh , Chennai , Cuttack , Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad , Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata , Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna , Prayagraj (Allahabad), Shillong , Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram.
