NEET Aspirant Attempted Suicide in Odisha, Family Claims Couldn’t Handle Pressure of Study

A NEET UG student has recently committed suicide in the state of Odisha. Her age was just 18 years. She just cleared 12th grade and was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG exam at a private institute in Bhubaneswar. On November 07, 2024, the girl attempted suicide in her hostel room in Patia. Her father claimed that her daughter attempted this step because she generally used to take extreme stress and finally she could not bear the pressure of studies. She hanged herself in the room of the hotel. She was preparing for the NEET UG for the past 18 months.

The girl was a native of the Salipur area of the Cuttack district. Her body was found hanging in the hotel room. The hostel warden when knew about the incidents, called her father, Mahesh Kumar Sahu and also the police station to continue further investigations. Police officer said to PTI, “We have registered a case of unnatural death, and sent the body for post-mortem examination,”.

A similar case has come out, in which an IIT Delhi Student hanged himself in the room of the hotel he was staying at. He was a second-year MSc student who committed suicide by hanging out on the ceiling in a hotel room on October 22, 2024. The name of the student was Kumar Yash, and he was from Deoghar, Jharkhand. As per the reports, the room was locked from inside, and all the other students and staff members were continuously shouting to open the door, they also tried breaking the windows. When the hotel room was inspected, they found a suicide note. The body was taken to the Safdarjung hospital where doctors declared him dead. The reason behind taking this big step is still not clear, however, the investment is still under process. The reason will soon be out.
