The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has issued an important notification announcing the postponement of the UPPSC PCS 2024 prelims examination.  The Combined State/Senior Subordinate Services (Pvt) Examination-2024 initially scheduled for March 17, 2024, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons. As per the commission’s statement, the new exam date for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination (PCS) will be disclosed in due course.

The official notice, citing advertisement number A-1/E-1/2024 dated January 1, 2024, states, “With reference to the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (Pvt) Examination-2024 advertised under the Commission’s Advertisement No. A-1/E-1/2024 dated 01-01-2024, it is hereby informed that the examination in question will be conducted by the Commission on 17th March, It was proposed to be held in 2024, the said examination is postponed due to unavoidable reasons, the examination in question is likely to be held in the month of July, information about which will be given in due course of time.

Candidates who have applied for the UPPSC PCS 2024 examination are advised to stay updated through the official website for further announcements. The UPPSC has assured to provide timely updates regarding the commencement of the examination.

Exam Pattern, Vacancies and Other Details:

The Commission announced a total of 220 vacancies for the UPPCS 2024 examination. The UPPSC PCS 2024 prelims exam pattern includes two papers:

  • General Studies Paper 1
  • General Studies Paper 2

The examination will carry a total of 200 marks and will have a duration of two hours. Both papers will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. Paper 1, comprising approximately 150 to 100 questions, will be considered for merit ranking, while Paper 2 is a qualifying paper. Candidates must secure at least 33 percent marks in Paper 2 to qualify. Additionally, there will be a 0.33 percent negative marking for every incorrect answer.
