The Special Judge, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) (Vyapam Cases), Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) has sentenced S/SH. Jitendra Singh (candidate) and Jaideep Singh (impersonator), both, will have to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for four years with a fine of Rs. 14,100 each and Both Amit Sachan (middleman) and Narendra Singh (candidate’s brother) will be sentenced to three years’ Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs. Rs 1000 each in a case related to Police Constable Recruitment-2012 examination conducted by Vyapam.

The CBI registered the current case on August 01, 2015, in accordance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directives dated July 09, 2015, and took over the investigation of FIR No. 13/ 2013, which was previously registered at Police Station Dehat, Bhind (Madhya Pradesh). It was alleged that Sh. Jitendra Singh of Bhind District filled out two application forms for the Police Constable Recruitment 2012 with different residential addresses and was assigned to two different examination centres, and his appearance in the written test was recorded at both examination centres on the same date and time.

Further, it was claimed that the candidate had arranged for an impersonator to appear at one of the testing locations. It was also claimed that this candidate had passed the written exam on both roll numbers and had been called for the physical proficiency test on both roll numbers.

The CBI inquiry found that S/Sh. Jitendra Singh, Jaideep, Narendra, and Amit conspired to get Jitendra Singh selected for the PCRT-2012. In furtherance of the plot, two application forms were filled out: one by the candidate himself from a Kiosk in Gwalior, and the other by Sh. Amit Sachan, with whom Sh. Jitendra gave his personal information for the purpose of filling out the application form.

Furthermore, Sh. Amit gave the impersonator, Sh. Jaideep Singh, the Test Admit Card for the second roll number for the aforementioned examination. Sh. Jaideep Singh took the examination in place of the candidate at the Bhind Centre. In accordance with the plot, the impostor willfully substituted, pretended, and represented himself as candidate Sh. Jitendra Singh in the abovementioned examination.

Following an investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet against the accused in the Court of Special Judge, CBI (Vyapam Cases), Gwalior on August 16, 2017. The accused were found guilty and convicted by the Trial Court.
