GST is replacement of all indirect taxes like VAT, Service Tax, Entertainment Tax, etc. The GST rate has been divided into five slabs ranging from 0% to 28% and taking about the electronic items, the new GST rate ranges from 18% to 28%. Electronic items has been divided into two categories: One comprising products such as desktops and laptops, and other covering items like monitors and printers. Laptops and desktops will attract tax rate of 18% which was earlier 14 to 15%. GST, monitors and projectors will attract GST rate of 28% which was earlier upto 18.5%. GST rate on other IT accessories such as LAN and data cable will be 28%. Other than items like photocopying, fax machines, ink cartridges are to levy 28% GST instead of 18% duty. The government believes that all these items like printers, projectors, printers play an important role in Digital India move and these changes will benefit in longer run.November 5, 2018 at 1:44 pm #39347
