GATE Exam 2025: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is all set to start the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) on 1 February 2025 (today).The exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025, in two shifts. The ongoing first shift of the GATE exam 2025 will end at 12.30. The Exam will be conducted for subjects like Computer science and Information Technology (CS), Mathematics (MA), and Agricultural Engineering (AG)

The eagerly anticipated examination, which is operating as a door to get admission into prestigious postgraduate programs and numerous job opportunities in government agencies, has attracted a record number of applicants this year. From the initial responses, the GATE 2025 paper was expected to be of moderate to difficult level, with a balanced mix of theoretical and numerical questions. The General Aptitude section was easy to moderate and contained logical reasoning, numerical ability, and verbal reasoning questions.

GATE 2025: Exam Day Essentials

Candidates appearing for the GATE 2025 exam must carry the following items:

  • GATE 2025 admit card
  • Valid ID proof
  • Pen and pencil
  • Transparent water bottle

GATE 2025: Guidelines

Candidates appearing for the GATE 2025 exam (Shift 1 or Shift 2) must follow these guidelines:

  • Carry a printed copy of the GATE admit card along with valid ID proof (Aadhar, PAN, passport, driving licence, voter ID, etc.).
  • Report at the examination centre at least 90 minutes in advance to undertake security checks and formalities.
  • Electronic devices like calculators, pagers, mobile phones and watches are not permitted inside the examination hall.
  • Candidates can log in and read the instructions 20 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
  • There will be a virtual calculator provided on the computer for calculations
  • A scribble pad will be provided for the rough work.
  • Candidates can bring a pen, pencil, and a transparent water bottle.
  • PWD candidates with excess time can leave only after 12:30 PM (morning shift) or 5:30 PM (afternoon shift).

GATE 2025: Exam Pattern

The exam will consist of 65 questions with a total of 100 marks. The distribution is as follows:

  • MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions): 30-35 questions
  • MSQs (Multiple Select Questions): 10-15 questions 
  • NAT (Numerical Answer Type Questions): 15-20 questions
  • General Aptitude Section: 10 questions
