Indian Army Recruitment 2023: The Indian Army has issued an invitation for eligible, Unmarried Male Engineering Graduates to apply for the 138th Technical Graduate Course (TGC-138), which will commence at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, in January 2024. The course is for a Permanent Commission in the Indian Army. There is a total of 40 Vacancies available in this recruitment drive. As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility requirements include citizenship of India, Nepal, or being of Indian origin, as well as an age range of 20 to 27 years as of January 1, 2024. Educational qualifications include having passed the required engineering degree course or being in the final year of an engineering degree course, with strict adherence to the acceptable equivalent engineering streams listed in the official notification. Candidates studying in their final year of an engineering degree program must be able to submit proof of passing the engineering degree examination along with mark sheets of all semesters/years by January 1, 2024, and must produce the engineering degree certificate within 12 weeks from the commencement of training at IMA. If they fail to produce the certificate, they will be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis for the recovery of the cost of training at IMA, as notified from time to time, as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid. As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, the online application will be open from 18th April 2023 at 1500 hrs and will be closed on 17th May 2023 at 1500 hrs.
Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements must submit their applications online. As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection process will include shortlisting based on the cut-off percentage applied as decided by the Indian Army. Candidates who have been shortlisted will be called for an SSB interview, which will include two stages: Stage I will include intelligence tests, picture perception, and discussion tests, and Stage II will include psychology tests, group tasks, and interviews. The final selection of the candidates will be based on the combined marks obtained in the SSB interview and the cut-off percentage applied as decided by the Indian Army. As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, to be eligible for the exam, a candidate must meet certain criteria. First, they must either be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain countries with the intention of settling permanently in India. For candidates falling under categories (ii) and (iii), a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India is required. However, Gorkha subjects of Nepal are exempted from this requirement.
Secondly, candidates must fall within the age range of 20 to 27 years as of 01 Jan 2024. This means that candidates must have been born between 02 Jan 1997 and 01 Jan 2004, both dates inclusive.

The Military Service Pay (MSP) is an additional payment given to all officers of the Indian Armed Forces. The amount of MSP varies according to the rank of the officer. In addition to MSP, Gentlemen Cadets (GC) in training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) are also eligible for a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month. It is important to note that this stipend is only applicable during the training period and will not be treated as commissioned service. On successful commissioning, the pay in the Pay Matrix of the Officer commissioned shall be fixed in first Cell of Level 10, and the period of training shall not be treated as commissioned service. Additionally, cadets are also eligible for arrears on account of admissible allowances, as applicable, for the training period.
The Qualification Grant has been abolished as a separate allowance, and eligible employees will be governed by the newly proposed Higher Qualification Incentive (HQI). The order for HQI is yet to be issued by MoD. Flying allowance is a separate allowance given to Army Aviators (Pilots) serving in the Army Aviation Corps. Officers with the rank of Lieutenant and above in Level 10 and above are entitled to a flying allowance of Rs. 25,000 per month fixed (R1H1 of Risk and Hardship Matrix).
As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection process for Officer’s Entry into the Indian Army involves several stages. Firstly, applications will be shortlisted based on a cutoff percentage of marks for each engineering discipline/stream, which will be applied to the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by candidates up to the final semester/year. Candidates who meet this requirement will be provisionally allowed to appear in the SSB interview.
Secondly, after shortlisting of applications, the center allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email.
Thirdly, only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at one of the Selection Centres, by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and Interviewing Officer. Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure, and those who clear Stage-1 will go to Stage-2. Those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned on the same day.
Fourthly, candidates who get recommended after Stage 2 will undergo a medical examination. Finally, candidates who are recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be issued a Joining Letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
