Indian Army Recruitment 2023: Indian Army is inviting applications from eligible Indian candidates for the post of Short Service Commission on a contract basis. As per the Indian Army Recruitment 2023 official notification, there are 55 vacancies in which 50 vacancies are for men and 5 vacancies for female candidates. Selected candidates will be appointed for a tenure of 14 years. An officer will be on probation for a period of six months from the date he/she receives his/her commission.

Candidates Should have served for minimum two/three years (as applicable) in the Senior Division/Wg of NCC. Candidates must hold a degree from an accredited university or an equivalent degree with a cumulative score of at least 50% across all years. Students in their final year of study may also apply if they received at least 50% of their possible points in their degree program’s first two/three/four years.
If chosen for an interview, these students must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 50% in their degree program otherwise, their nomination will be withdrawn. The University of Madras will provide all applicants who successfully complete Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai, a “Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies.”

If eligible and suitable in all respects, male and female officers who wish to continue serving in the Indian Army after the ten-year short service commission period may be considered for the award of a permanent commission (PC) in the tenth year of their short service commission in accordance with the pertinent policies as issued from time to time. Male and female SSC officers who are otherwise qualified but are not chosen for PC will have the option to remain SSCOs for a total of 14 years (including the initial term of 10 years), after which they will be dismissed from the Indian Army.
