IOCL Recruitment 2023: IOCL is inviting applications from bright, young, and energetic individuals of Indian Nationality for various posts in the pay scale of Rs. 25,000-1,05,000/ for its Refinery/ Petrochemical Units at Haldia (West Bengal) and Vadodara (Gujarat) and upcoming Acrylic and Oxo Alcohol facilities at Dumad.
As per IOCL Recruitment 2023 official notification, there are several positions available, including Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production), Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (P&U), and Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (P&U-O&M). The number of posts including reservations, educational qualification, work experience criteria, and other eligibility criteria/parameters is detailed in the job description. Candidates must possess the required qualification and meet the work experience criteria. There are also reserved posts for Ex-servicemen and reserved categories like Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL).
However, women candidates are not eligible for the above posts, as they are not considered for vacancies in Production, P&U Operations (Boiler & Electrical), and also against the cadres/work areas that require shift operations, 365 days in a year or necessitates undertaking work beyond 07.00 pm (& up to 06.00 am) like P&U (other work areas) or maintenance services performed in shifts. The positions are operated with work arrangements in one, two, or three shifts, and incumbents may be required to perform duties in any of the work arrangements depending upon work exigencies. As per IOCL Recruitment 2023 official notification, the minimum age for candidates applying for these positions is 18 years, and the maximum age is 26 years. The age limit will be calculated as of 30th April 2023.
As per IOCL Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility criteria for each position are as follows:
Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production):
Candidates must have completed a three-year diploma in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Refinery and Petrochemical Engineering, or a three-year B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry from a recognized university or institute. They must have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates for reserved positions.
Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (P&U):
Candidates must have completed a three-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or matriculation with ITI (Fitter) of at least two years duration or a B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry from a recognized university or institute. They must also have a Boiler Competency Certificate (BCC) with Second Class or a National Apprenticeship Certificate in Boiler Attendant under the Apprentices Act, 1961, with the due endorsement of equivalence to the Second Class Boiler Attendant Certificate of Competency by the Competent Boiler Authority of the State of Gujarat.
Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (P&U-O&M)
Candidates must have completed a three-year diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering from a recognized university or institute. They must have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% marks in the case of SC/ST candidates for reserved positions.
According to the official notification for IOCL Recruitment 2023, the selection process for the notified posts will comprise of a Written Test and a Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT). The Written Test will consist of three sections: Subject Knowledge, Numerical Ability, and General Awareness. Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks in the Written Test to be shortlisted for the SPPT. The SPPT will be of qualifying nature and only those candidates who are shortlisted based on the Written Test and meet the eligibility criteria upon document verification will be considered for the SPPT.
The Written Test will be conducted at Vadodara for candidates applying for notified posts at Gujarat Refinery and at Kolkata for candidates applying for notified posts at Haldia Refinery. Admit cards for the Written Test will be issued to all prima-facie eligible candidates. Shortlisted candidates, in the ratio of 1:2 (with due cognizance to a number of reserved posts), upon document verification found in order, will be required to undergo the SPPT.
Obtaining minimum qualifying marks in the Written Test does not guarantee being shortlisted for the SPPT or the final selection, as the same is related to the number of positions, reservation position, ratio applied, and relative performance in respective categories, and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and other parameters. A composite merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test and SPPT, and candidates will be shortlisted as per notified vacancy and reservation. In case of a tie of marks, the candidate with the prior date of birth (senior by age) shall find a place in the merit list, and candidates belonging to reserved categories will be considered against reserved vacancies, irrespective of their position in the select list.
As mentioned in the official notification for IOCL Recruitment 2023, the pay scale for these positions is Rs. 25,000-1,05,000/. Additionally, the selected candidates will also receive other benefits such as medical facilities, subsidized accommodation, and leave encashment, among others.
