It is a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna, 100% EOU, profit-making Central public sector enterprise (CPSE) which has its head office located in Bangalore. Under the ownership of the Ministry of Steel, the Government of India, the company is known to have a pelletization plant in Mangalore, and it also had an iron ore mine in Kudremukh (Chikkamagaluru District).
