According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, the Candidate selected as Economic Officer post-Selection shall be appointed under the Pay Scale Level 07 hereinunder:

Pay Scale: Level-07 (Rs. 44900-142400) of Pay Matrix under 7^th Central Pay Commission

Upper Age Limits under Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023:

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, the following Category-wise and Reserved Community-specific Age Limits are prescribed for Economic Officer Post:

1) The Un-Reserved Applicant should not exceed (Maximum) 35 Years as on the Closing Date (30.03.2023) of this Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Advertisement issued for the purpose.

2) The Upper Age Limitation shall be Relaxable for Regularly Appointed Central Government/ Union Territory Government Servants up to 05 Years as per the instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time.

3) For Age Concessions applicable to some other Categories of the Applicants, do refer to the relevant Paragraphs of the ‘Instructions and Additional Information to the Candidates for Recruitment by Selection’ of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Notification.

A) Educational Qualifications:

Eligibility Criteria for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023:

The Eligibility comprising the Educational Qualification(s) and Experience essential as per the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Recruitment 2023 Notification applicable to the Candidates/Applicants are as follows:

Essential Qualification(s)

A. Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics/Commerce from any Duly Recognized University or Equivalent.

Experience: 02 (Two) Years’ Experience of Economic Research/ Investigation.

Desirable Qualification(s): Experience of Research in the field of Industrial Development.

Note: The Qualifications and the Qualification in regard to Experience in the case of Candidates otherwise well-qualified, are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission.

Selection Process for Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023:

According to the UPSC issued Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Notification, the Union Public Service Commission shall carry out the Recruitment Test Selection and Other Criteria with reference to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, as also explained hereunder:

Recruitment Methodology:

In the event of the Applications received relatively in a large number from Applicants, the Union Public Service Commission will adopt the Shortlisting Criteria to restrict the number to only Eligible Candidates to be called in for the Interview to a Reasonable Number by Any or More of the Methodologies as mentioned hereunder:

a) “Based on the Desirable Qualification (DQ) or any one or all of the Desirable Qualifications (DQs) if more than one Desirable Qualification is prescribed”.

b) On the basis of Higher Educational Qualifications than the Minimum prescribed in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry  Recruitment 2023 Notification.

c) Based on Higher Experience in the relevant field than the Minimum prescribed in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023 Advertisement.

d) By reckoning the Prior Professional Work-Experience before or Post-acquiring Essential Qualifications of the Candidate Applicants.

e) By invoking the Prior Work Experience even in cases where there is No Experience mentioned Either as Essential Qualification (EQ) Or as Desirable Qualification (DQ).

f) By holding a Recruitment Test (RT).

Note-II: Important Points:

Viva-voce/Personality Test carries Total 100 Marks explained hereunder:

i) The Category-wise Minimum Level of Suitability in the Interviews (100 Marks), irrespective of whether the Selection is conducted only through Interview or by holding a Recruitment Test (RT) to be followed by the Interview, shall remain as hereunder:

a) Un-Reserved Minimum Qualifying 50 Marks to be secured out of Aggregate 100 Marks.

b) Economically Weaker Sections 50 Marks.

c) Other Backward Community: 45 Marks.

d) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Caste/Persons with Benchmark Disability/ies (PwBD/s): 40 Marks.

ii) In cases where Selection is carried through by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Personal Interview, the Candidate will have to attain the Minimum Level of Suitability in their respective Categories in the course of the Interview Stage.

Application Fee for Ministry of Commerce and Industry Recruitment 2023:

Following is the Category-wise Application Fee and Payment Gateway for remittance by the Applicants:

I) The General Category/EWS/OBC Candidates shall have to pay the Application Fee Rs. 25.00 (Rupees Twenty-five only) only either by remitting the Money in any Branch of the State Bank of India in Cash or by using the Net-Banking Facility of the State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card Payment Gateway.
