NTA Declares Final NEET-UG Results, Number of Toppers Down to 17 from 61
The updated final NEET UG 2024 results were made public by the National Testing Agency (NTA) yesterday, 26th July 2024. Applicants can visit exams.nta.ac.in to view their most recent results. As of right now, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET offers a link to download updated scorecards; however, this link is out of date and relates to previous results from a retest that was administered to 1,563 applicants. The final corrected results would be released in the following two days, as confirmed by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan earlier.
In this year’s competition, 67 students shared the top spot in all of India. Among these, 44 students received grace marks for answering a physics question incorrectly, and six students received extra credit for time wasted as a result of invigilator faults. These modifications will be reflected in the updated results, which now only accept one correct response per question due to the Supreme Court’s ruling. As such, the 70 students who obtained a score of 716 out of 720 and the 44 students who previously got 715 out of 720 will now be ranked behind the 720 students.
This year, 44 students were included in the list of top scorers after receiving grace points for answering a physics question incorrectly. Following the Supreme Court’s directive to the NTA to revoke these grace marks based on an IIT Delhi report, all students who had chosen option 2 as their correct response received a score of -5. This indicates that the revised scores for these 44 applicants would be 715 out of 720.
This year’s NEET UG 2024 has been clouded in controversy by claims of paper leaks, exaggerated topper counts, incorrectly distributed language papers, incorrect questions, grace marks, and more. In June and July, the Supreme Court heard the case in four sessions.
