Voltas wins Appeal against GST Demand Order; Appellate Authority drops Demand and Penalty The Appellate Authority granted Voltas Limited's appeal against the demand order of the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Cuttack - I City Circle, Odisha, according to the exchange filing. The Deputy Commissioner issued a demand of Rs.4,41,49,977 (with interest) for the disallowance of Input Tax Credit (ITC) and assessed a penalty of Rs.29,23,999 under the provisions of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Odisha Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The penalty was levied due to a mismatch between the ITC claimed in GSTR-3B and the ITC provided in GSTR-2A due to the non-filing of the GST Returns by some of the vendors. The Appellate Authority has dropped the entire demand including the penalty. Voltas Limited is an Indian multinational home appliances company headquartered in Mumbai. It designs, develops, manufactures and sells products including air conditioners, air coolers, refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves, air purifiers, water dispensers.
