A report says that 27 airports in northern, western, and central India are closed for regular flights until 5:29 AM on Saturday, May 10. If you have a flight booked soon, it’s important to know what options your airline is offering, especially if your flight was cancelled due to these changes.

IndiGo has extended its offer to not charge any change or cancellation fees for flights going to or from Srinagar. This offer is now valid for travel until May 22, 2025, if the ticket was booked on or before April 22, 2025.
The airline has shared a post on platform ‘X’ saying, “Continuing our efforts to provide support to our customers and accommodate their travel plan changes, we are extending a full waiver of change and cancellation fees for travel to/from Srinagar until 22nd May 2025, for bookings made on or before 22nd April 2025.”

You can amend the time and/or date of your flight or cancel it, and can ask for a refund.
Air India, on Wednesday, announced that defense personnel who booked tickets under the defense fare can get a full refund if they cancel their tickets. They can also change their travel dates once without any extra fee. This applies to Air India and Air India Express flights with travel dates up to May 31, 2025.
Air India Group said on platform ‘X,’ “Air India Group is grateful for the selfless service and dedication of our military and defense personnel. In the prevailing situation, for those personnel holding defense fares who are booked on Air India and Air India Express flights till 31 May 2025, we are offering full refunds on cancellation and a one-time waiver on rescheduling flights up to 30 June 2025 to support their duty commitments.”

If, in case, Air India cancels your flight, in that case you can get your refund back by following the steps:
SpiceJet has confirmed its customer’s flight from Amritsar to Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Kandla, or any other destination is canceled till 5:29 AM on May 10, 2025, then the airline will for sure refund all money to its passengers.
SpiceJet said on platform ‘X,’ “The affected passengers can opt for a full refund or an alternate flight (as per availability) through http://changes.spicejet.com or via our 24/7 customer care helpline +91 (0)124 4983410/+91 (0)124 7101600.”

Further said, “Due to the ongoing situation, our flights to and from Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Kandla & Amritsar are cancelled till 0529 hrs 10th May ’25. Please visit our website or log in to our mobile app to check your flight status before leaving for the airport.”
Passengers are advised to check their flight status timely manner on the official website or app of SpiceJet before moving towards the respective airports.
If, in case, SpiceJet cancels your flight, in that case you can get your refund back by following the steps:
If SpiceJet airlines has cancelled your flight, preponed it by 60 minutes or more, or postponed the flight by 120 minutes or more, then you, as per airline guidelines, have the right to choose any alternative flight at no extra payment or can also request a full return.
