Govt. waives off penalty for late filing of GSTR-3B – Notification 50/2017

Seeks to waive late fee payable for delayed filing of FORM GSTR-3B for Aug & Sep, 2017

Government has waived off penalty for late filing of GSTR-3B return under goods and services tax (GST) for the months of August & September,2017. Even the penalty charged already for late filing of GSTR-3B will be credited back in the electronic cash ledger of the registered taxpayer.
The announcement for the same was made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his official twitter handle on 24th October,2017 .

As per GST Act,2017, Penalty of Rs. 100 per day towardsCentral GST & Rs. 100 per day towards State GST is to be paid if the GST returns are not filed within the due date.

New Delhi, the 24th October, 2017

G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 128 of theCentral Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (12 of 2017), the Central Government, on the recommendations of the Council, hereby waives the late fee payable under section 47 of the Act, for all registered persons who failed to furnish the return in FORM GSTR-3Bfor the months of August and September,2017 by the due date.
