The 51st meeting of GST Council has been scheduled to be held on 2nd August 2023 through video conferencing.

In this GST Council via video conferencing, final decision on the levy of a 28% GST on online gaming, casinos, and horse racing will be taken. Lots of authority are not in the support of this decision.

Various specifics of the essential legislative amendments and regulation changes will be presented to the Council at the meeting, according to a senior government official.

“The GST Council will meet via videoconference on August 2 to resolve this issue. We will present the proposed changes to the GST law and rules to the Council for approval,” an official stated.

While the source argued that the pricing is not being reviewed, the Council is expected to decide whether the 28% GST rate should be paid on the entry amount or on each bet at its meeting. “There has been no revision to the plan. The GST laws and regulations will be revised in conformity with the prior Council decision. The previous decision was only in principle,” stated the official.
