Yahoo! is hiring an experienced Sr. Software Dev Engineer at their India location. The Data and Common Services (DCS) team within the Yahoo Advertising Engineering organization is responsible for the Advertising core data infrastructure and services that provide common, horizontal services for user and contextual targeting, privacy and analytics. We are responsible for providing fast, clean, reliable, and relevant data for Yahoo’s advertising businesses as well as key measurements and insights about Yahoo users. We are developing next generation technologies to enrich our advertiser and user experience through complex, scalable data platforms, with ever growing and interesting challenges.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Build highly scalable, high performance and stable advertising experience
• Work closely with product managers to understand the business requirements, translate them into design and implementation approaches, and rapidly drive convergence towards the best solution
• Engineer the full product lifecycle, from concept, design, through maintenance, managing prioritization and trade-offs across functional domains
• Hands-on coding: Develop and maintain high quality code base, consistently delivering challenging, stable, and maintainable projects on schedule
• Exploring large data sets for relationships, insights, and anomalies
• Participate in understanding customer’s feedback and fix issues reported by customers
• Adopt and improve best practices to foster rapid ways of software development and prototyping
• Maintain coding and documentation standards, participate in code reviews
• Mentor and provide technical leadership for junior engineers
• Automate deployments using Continuous Delivery and Integration pipelines
• Provide regular updates to management on project status

Job Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Good knowledge of data structures, common algorithms, and time-complexity of algorithms
• Experience with design and implementation of distributed systems
• Experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop Map-Reduce, Apache Spark, Druid, ElasticSearch, PIG, HBase, or Hive
• Understanding and experience with UNIX and/or Shell scripting
• Database and SQL understanding
• Must have good object-oriented programming, design and debugging skills
• Experience with continuous delivery and continuous integration tools such as Screwdriver, Jenkins, etc
• Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes containers
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent team player with strong collaboration skills
• Should have a strong sense of commitment and responsibility
