Holidays Announced in Schools of  TN, Karnataka and AP Due to Heavy Rainfall

School Holidays: Due to heavy rainfall in some areas of India such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have announced holidays in their schools today (October 16, 2024). It has been raining heavily for the past few days in these states. Many states have been issued with red and orange alerts observing the bad weather conditions. In Tamil Nadu, districts such as Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and many others are suffering from heavy rain damage. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a red alert in these areas. Citizens there are advised to stay at their homes and not move out until it is really urgent.

Karnataka is another state suffering from the same issue of heavy rainfall for the past few days. In Karnataka India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced an orange alert. In Andhra Pradesh, the government has announced holidays in schools until October 17, 2024, as received heavy rainfall in many parts of the state.

State government in Tamil has announced holidays in several schools and colleges in majorly four districts; Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet. Holidays in Chennai schools were announced yesterday i.e. October 15, 2024, and in some districts, holidays are announced today i.e. October 16, 2024.

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister has ordered to declare holidays in schools today and also asked all the IT firms to give work from home to all employees until October 18, 2024. Schools will remain closed until orders will be passed from the side of the government. The government will pass its order to reopen schools seeing the weather conditions.

Holidays in the schools of Puducherry have been announced today, October 16, 2024. The government has notified that schools in Puducherry will remain closed until weather conditions are not fine.

Tuesday, October 15, 2025, witnessed considerable amounts of rain pour on the IT capital. The Urban District Commissioner has announced that schools and institutions would be closed today i.e. October 16, due to the severe rainfall and the orange alert that has been issued, considering the ongoing downpour in the city.

Till October 17, 2024, schools in many regions such as Nellow, Tirupati, Chittoor and Prakasham of Andhra Pradesh will remain closed due to worst weather conditions. Because of the heavy rain, schools, universities, and other educational institutions will be closed till tomorrow. For the next few days, there is a heavy to extremely heavy rainfall alert from the IMD.
