On Friday a private school in the Dwarka area of Delhi received a bomb threat. As a result of the threat, emergency action teams have been dispatched to the school, and classes are now being conducted in online mode, said Delhi Police. This is not the first instance of such bomb threats disturbing the school schedules in Delhi. More detailed information is expected soon.

On December 14, 2024, the Delhi Police Special Unit detected a student of a private school as a person who sent a bomb threat email to the Paschim Vihar School. After tracing the IP address of the mail, the police team traced the student’s home, who had sent the threatening mail to his school. After questioning, the child confirmed the act and was later undergone counselling. At last, he was set free with a warning to his parents to keep watch on his behaviour.

Numerous schools in Delhi have received bomb threats on December 14 and 17, 2024. Eventually, on December 13, in total of 30 schools across Delhi were tricked with fraudulent emails. South East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Kumar Singh opened up about the December 13 bomb threat and said that an investigation into the matter revealed that the e-mails sent to the school had been induced outside the country.

On December 13, 2024, Friday, ex-Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal raised concerns about frequent bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital. Further, Kejriwal questioned the potential psychological and academic impact on students and said that such incidents could disturb their studies and well-being if they continue.

On November 19, the Delhi High Court advised the Delhi government and police to make a complete action plan, which includes a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address such bomb threats and related emergencies. The court set a due date of eight weeks for the completion of this advisory.
