Aadhaar Crosses 150 Billion Authentications, Boosting Digital Access and Services
The number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has exceeded 150 billion (15,011.82 Cr), which is a great turning point in the pathway of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and for spreading the networks of Aadhaar.
This indicates the high usage and importance of Aadhaar and the improvement of the digital economy in India. This huge limit was exceeded by the end of April.
A vital role is played by the Aadhaar-based authentication in facilitating living, ensuring efficient delivery of welfare services, and enabling individuals to voluntarily access a range of services from various providers. In the month of April itself, the number of Aadhaar card authentication transactions reached 210 crore; this number was almost 8% more than last year in the same month.
Aadhaar e-KYC service is continuously playing a vital role in enhancing the customer experience and in making the process of doing business easier in the sector of banking and non-banking financial services.
The total e-KYC transactions held in April 2025 reached 37.3 crore, marking a 39.7% increase compared to the same month last year. As of April 30, 2025, the cumulative count of eKYC transactions has surpassed 2393 crore.
The AI/ML-powered Aadhaar Face Authentication solutions, developed internally by UIDAI, have been gaining constant popularity. In April alone, around 14 crore transactions were noted, reflecting the growing adoption of this authentication method and its seamless advantages for Aadhaar number holders. More than 100 organisations across both the government and private sectors are utilising face authentication to ensure the smooth delivery of services and benefits.
