AU Small Finance Bank reduces FD Rates for Senior Citizen on 18 Month Tenure; Know Details
AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) has announced a reduction in its fixed deposit interest rates for senior citizens for an 18-month tenure effective from March 10, 2025. The interest rate for senior citizens has dropped by 10 basis points from 8.6% to 8.5%. On the other hand, the FD rates for general citizens have been reduced to 8% from 8.1%. The rates are applicable for deposits of less than Rs.3 crore.
This action is the result of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) reduction in the repo rate in February 2025. The new interest rate for senior citizens on 18-month FDs is 8.5%, while for general citizens, it is 8%. This rate change is similar to the adjustments made by other banks after the RBI’s policy update. It was already expected that banks would lower their FD rates after the cut in the repo rate.
The RBI’s deposit insurance scheme covers deposits of up to Rs.5 lakh made in small finance banks and other banks.
