CBDT Hosts Tax Audit Conference “Chintan Shivir” in Hyderabad to Strengthen Audit Transparency and Efficiency
The All India Audit Conference “Chintan Shivir” was held on October 25, 2025, at Hyderabad, chaired by the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and co-chaired by the Member (Audit & Judicial), CBDT, and was attended by M. Anil Kumar, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, under the aegis of the Member (A&J), CBDT, New Delhi; Anand Baiwar, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation); and Suresh Battini, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
Participants from all regions in the country attended the event; these included Monika Verma, Director General (Audit), CAG, New Delhi, and Hema Munivenkatappa, DGA (Central), Hyderabad.
The theme of the conference was to reinforce audits for transparency, efficiency, and accountability in navigating the new landscape, and it has brought together all the senior officers of the Income Tax Department from across the nation. The press release stated the event was aimed at enhancing audit quality, utilising data analytics, and encouraging coordination between Revenue Audit and Internal Audit.
A series of discussions was only centred on key audit themes. In the discussion, the CBDT's president asserted that the period ranging between November 10, 2025, and December 10, 2025, will be analysed as a "Special Audit Drive" across all the regions of the country.
