CBI arrests CGST Superintendent in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested a Superintendent, CGST(Audit), Audit Circle-VI, Gandhidham (Gujarat) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. One Lakh from the Complainant.

According to the claims, the Superintendent, CGST (Audit), Audit Circle-VI, Gandhidham demanded an unauthorised amount of Rs. 2.40 lakh [a demand of Rs. 100 per container] from the complainant for the containers he cleared during his previous assignment as Superintendent, Customs, Kandla Port. According to additional allegations, the accused advised the complainant to pay the bribe in order to avoid the audit he threatened to perform if the undue advantage was not received.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe Rs.1,00,000/- from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the office & residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of Rs.6.50 Lakh(Approx) and incriminating documents from his residential premises.

The arrested accused is being produced today before the Jurisdictional Court.
