CBI Catches Two CGST Officials in Odisha While Accepting Bribe for GST Refund Release
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Superintendent, CGST, Balasore, Odisha, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
On May 08, 2025, the CBI registered a case against the accused following the complaint filed. According to the complainant, the accused CGST Superintendent and Assistant Commissioner, Balasore, Odisha, had demanded a Rs 50,000 bribe from him in return for releasing the GST refund of Rs 1.6 million of his company.
To catch the accused red-handed, the CBI organised a trap. The plan worked, and both accused got trapped while accepting the bribery amount of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. Subsequently, both were arrested.
Further investigation into the present matter is ongoing.
