CBI Nabs Two Individuals in Rs. 22 Lakh Bribe Reverse Trap Linked to GST Tax Evasion Probe The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two individuals in a bribe 'reverse trap' case worth Rs. 22 lakh. They are accused of offering and paying a bribe of Rs. 22 lakh to a superintendent of the GST Intelligence Directorate. The two are recognised as Ram Sevak Singh and Sachin Kumar Gupta.

The case was uncovered when an officer was investigating the present tax evasion case, where multiple online companies were trying to evade a hefty amount of tax. When the accused individuals became aware of the probe, they approached the respective officer and requested him to favour them in return for a Rs. 22 lakh bribe. However, the officer was genuine towards his duty; he immediately approached his higher authority, the CBI, about the bribe attempt. Thereafter, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) planned a reverse trap, an operation to catch these individuals (bribe givers) red-handed. The officer acted like nothing had happened and was comfortable accepting their offer. The moment individuals were handing over the bribe money to the officer, the CBI caught them red-handed performing this illegal action.
GST Council Introduces Major Amendments to Facilitate Refund Rules, Effective from November 1, 2025
After taking individuals into custody, CBI conducted several searches at locations according to the information provided by the accused. Officers reported these visits are aimed at uncovering the entire racket and arresting all the individuals involved in this tax evasion. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) appreciated the contribution of the officer in uncovering the tax evasion fraud and bribery attempt.
