CBIC issued SOP for implementation of notification prohibiting import of mobile phones with non-genuine IMEI
The CBIC vide Instruction No.12/2022-Customs dated July 07, 2022, has issued Standard Operating Procedure (“SOP”) (Version 1.1) for Implementation of Central Government notification prohibiting import of mobile phones with duplicate, fake and non-genuine IMEI.
The Instruction is Given Below:
Kind reference is invited to copy of Office Memorandum dated 04.07.2022 received from Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Communication, New Delhi, on the above subject, enclosing therewith with a copy of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) (Version 1.1) for “Implementation of Central Government notification prohibiting import of mobile phones with duplicate, fake and non-genuine International Mobile Equipment Identity”.
By the above stated OM, the Department of Telecommunication has informed that the SOP version 1.0 has been modified appropriately due to the operationalization of the new system i.e. Indian Counterfeited Device Restriction (ICDR) system w.e.f. 28.01.2020 and has attached a copy of the above-stated SOP (Version 1.1) as Annexure -I to the above-stated OM.
It is hereby requested that necessary action may be taken to sensitize officers under your jurisdiction regarding the above-mentioned modified SOP (Version 1.1) issued by the Department of Telecommunications.
The Customs Officers requiring a login to the system may send the details (i.e. Name, Designation, Email id, Mobile no., Port Name, Port Code, State/UT and Preferred Login ID) to [email protected] latest by 12.07.2022.
The difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this Instruction may be brought to the notice of the Board.
