Centre Launches Common Fellowship Portal for PhD and Post-Doctoral Hopefuls
Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh revealed a groundbreaking initiative aimed at simplifying the application process for PhD doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships. The newly launched portal, named Common Fellowship Portal (fellowships.gov.in), serves as a centralized platform where prospective candidates can access comprehensive information and seamlessly apply for fellowships offered by various government departments.
Singh emphasized the efficiency of the common fellowship portal, highlighting its capacity to reduce the burden on aspiring students and startups. By creating a profile on the portal, applicants can conveniently autofill multiple applications, significantly saving time and effort.
“This portal will help all applicants by reducing their time and energy by getting full information and submission of applications at a single place by the click of a mouse,” Singh stated.
Notably, departments under the Ministry of Science and Technology, including the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, and Council Of Scientific and Industrial Research, have collaborated to facilitate the submission of application forms. Additionally, Singh announced plans to integrate application forms from other departments such as the Indian Council of Medical Research, University Grants Commission, and All India Council for Technical Education onto the portal in the near future.
Furthermore, the portal boasts an innovative ‘Eligibility Calculator,’ enabling applicants to assess their eligibility for various fellowship schemes by providing specific details.
This initiative marks a significant stride towards enhancing accessibility and efficiency in the pursuit of higher education and research opportunities for scholars across India.
