Crucial Credit Card Reforms In June 2025: Reward Point Criteria, Fee Structure, And More
Beginning from June 2025, many renowned banks including Kotak Mahindra, American Express, HDFC Bank have stepped forward in revising the terms and conditions for their credit card facilities. The new amendments affect reward point eligibility, fee structure, lounge access policies, and minimum spend criteria.
HDFC Bank has announced changes in its terms and conditions for two credit cards, Tata Neu Infinity and Tata Neu Plus from June 10, 2025. In accordance with the reform, these card holders will not be to avail the facility of swiping their cards directly at airport lounges for entry. Rather, HDFC is set to issue lounge access vouchers to eligible customers based on quarterly spending milestones.
Kotak Mahindra Bank is set to revise several charges on its credit card providing. From June 1, 2025, new fees for failed standing instructions, dynamic currency conversion (DDC), and transactions involving utility bills, education, payments, skill-based gaming, wallet loading, and fuel purchases will be applied. Also, the practice for calculating the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) on outstanding balances will be updated.
Axis Bank has formed new and changed terms and conditions for two of its credit cards – Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card and REWARDS Credit Card. The changes will be actively applied from June 20, 2025.
While the Flipkart Axis Bank Card Holders will lose the complimentary airport lounge access, but they will enjoy increased cashback benefits on Myntra purchases.
A revised approach to spend exclusions is being introduced for REWARDS Credit Card by Axis Bank , indicating not all purchases will be included in order to earn reward points. The norm for annual fee waiver will also become more stern, requiring increased annual spends.
American Express is also changing its policies for the Gold Charge Card, to be effective from June 12, 2025. According to the updated rules, fuel purchases, including petrol, diesel, and CNG from Oil Marketing Companies will not earn Membership Rewards points for American Express Card holders. For Amex Gold Card holders, who regularly use the card for fueling, the new change reduces the overall reward-earning potential and may affect their future payment preferences.
