Deadline to link Aadhaar Number with Bank Accounts

Last date to link the existing bank accounts with Aadhaar number is 31st December,2017.
Aadhar is a twelve digitbiometric identity number issued by UIDAI. Government has made it mandatory to link PAN with AADHAR. If it is not linked then you will not be able to file your return of income for assessment year 2017-18. Government has made quoting of Aadhaar number for opening a bank account. It is even mandatory to quote Aadhaar number for any financial transaction of Rs. 50,000/- or more. It is even mandatory toquote Aadhaar number for application of a new Permanent Account Number (PAN).
Last date to link the existing bank accounts with Aadhaar number is 31st December,2017. If you fail to link your existing bank accounts with Aadhar Number, then it is possible that such accounts may become inoperative.



Step by step guide to check whether your Bank account is linked with Aadhar or not
It is mandatory to have your mobile registered with AADHAR Card to go for the below process of linking Bank account with Aadhar.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced an online facility which will help one to verify whether your Aadhaar number is mapped to bank account or not. Following steps needs to be followed for the same :
Step 1 : Go tohttps://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2 :On the home page of UIDAI website, Go to the “Aadhaar Services” menu.Under that”Aadhaar Services” menu, there is a tab for”Check Aadhaar & Bank Account Linking Status”or directly click on this link the bank accounthttps://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper.
Step 3 :Enter your Aadhaar number and the security code(Captcha) displayed on the screen and then click on “send OTP”.
Step 4 : An OTP (one time password) which one receives onregistered mobile number needs to be entered and then click on “Login”.
Step 5 :If you have already linked the bank account with Aadhar number
It will display a “Congratulations! Your Bank Aadhaar Mapping has been done” message stating your Aadhar number, Bank linking status -whether active or inactive, Bank linking date – on which date it was linked, Bank name – which bank is linked**.
Note : ** However, if one person has multiple bank accounts, & Aadhar mapping has been done for all the bank accounts, it will only displaythe last bank account mapped in with your Aadhaar number.
Note :One can you use the facility of online mapping of bank account with Aadhar only if the mobile number is updated as registered mobile number with UIDAI.
Step 5 :If you have not linked the bank account with Aadhar number
You can go to your bank’s website and login with your valid credentials. ( alternatively,Fill the Application form and Submitting it to Bank for updation of Aadhar number)
There you ll find either Update Aadhaar Card Details or Aadhaar Card Seeding link. Once you click on that link you will display a message you bank account is not liked with AADHAR. Click “UPDATE” to link bank account with Aadhar.
When you click on update it will redirect you to the below page where you need to select the account number from the drop down list, enter Aadhar number and reenter the same. Then click on “update” button.
It will display a Congratulations!! message stating that the request to update the Aadhar number to the bank account has been submitted.
NRI’s may have their bank accounts in India, but as they are not resident of the country. They are not entitled to have Aadhar number. So if banks ask them for submitting Aadhar they can explain they are NRIs and are exempted from submitting Aadhar. It was tweeted on official twitter handle of UIDAI’s AADHAR
