Delhi Police Arrests Land Mafia For Defrauding of Rs 1000 crore The Delhi Police have apprehended a prominent land mafia who was carrying a Rs 50,000 bounty from Nashik, Maharashtra. The court declared the accused, Piyush Tiwari aka Puneet Bhardwaj, a Proclaimed Offender. He was wanted in over 30 cheating charges registered against him in various police stations in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. The 42-year-old has been accused of defrauding about Rs 1000 crore under the guise of allotment of homes in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and has been imprisoned with his wife, Shikha, for her suspected involvement in the fraud. Based on a tip from HC Om Prakash Dagar, AATS/North, on Sunday, a dedicated team of AATS, North District sprung into action and began developing secret information through technical monitoring. "It was discovered through surveillance that Tiwari was residing in Nashik and doing Onion business," the police added. During the investigation, the police discovered that Tiwari had fled Noida and was living under the alias Puneet Bhardwaj in Nashik, Maharashtra. During the interview, Tiwari stated that he began his construction firm in 2011 and that it eventually failed when the Income Tax officials raided his home and took over Rs 120 crores. According to the authorities, in order to compete in the market, he began defrauding individuals under the guise of selling one flat to numerous customers.
