On June 25, 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) was introduced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA); the yojana is the backbone of India's "Housing for All" mission. The aim of this scheme is to provide houses to urban families at affordable rates. The deadline for completing homes approved by March 31, 2022, has been extended.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) is a scheme launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The aim of this scheme is to build, purchase, or rent affordable houses in urban areas and provide assistance to the beneficiaries. Under this scheme, families belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low-Income Group (LIG), and Middle-Income Group (MIG) who do not own a pucca house (all-weather dwelling) anywhere in India are covered.PMAY-U: Ways to Enjoy Benefit

By following the steps below, the eligibility criteria for PMAY 2.0 can be checked.- Step 1: Visit the official website of PMAY 2.0, i.e., https://pmaymis.gov.in.
- Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link reading "Apply for PMAY-U 2.0."
- Step 3: Review the guidelines mentioned and click on the "Click to Proceed" button.
- Step 4: You should possess all the required documents (listed below).
- Step 5: Fill in the eligibility form, and now click on "Eligibility Check."
- Step 6: Now, fill in your Aadhaar details: mention and verify your Aadhaar number with the help of mobile OTP.
Required Documents for PMAY-U:
Make sure you have these documents ready:- Aadhaar Information: Applicant's Aadhaar number, full name, and date of birth.
- Family Aadhaar Details: Aadhaar numbers of all family members.
- Bank Details: An active bank account linked to Aadhaar, including account number, bank name, branch, and IFSC code.
- Proof of Income: Upload as a PDF file (maximum size: 100 KB).
- Land Ownership Document (for BLC applicants): Upload as a PDF file (maximum size: 1 MB).
