Excel Utilities for Filing Updated ITRs for AY 2023-24 Now Available on I-T Portal
The Income Tax Department has released the Excel Utilities for filing updated Income Tax Returns (ITR) in ITR-1 to ITR-7 for the assessment year 2023-24. These new utilities are updated as per the latest rules of the Finance Act, 2025. Taxpayers can now use these Excel utilities to easily file their updated returns as per the Finance Act, 2025.
Taxpayers who need to file an Updated Return (ITR-U) for AY 2023-24 can download these utilities directly from the Income Tax e-Filing portal. Among seven different forms, it is important to file the right one to make sure you do not get penalised.
- ITR-1 is meant for salaried individuals with income up to Rs. 50 lakh.
- ITR-2 must be filed by individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who do not have income from a business or profession
- ITR-3 must be filed by individuals and HUFs having Income from business or profession.
- ITR-4 is for individuals, HUFs and firms that have opted for the presumptive taxation scheme.
- ITR-5 is meant for Partnership Firms, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), Association of Persons (AOPs), and Body of Individuals (BOIs).
- ITR 6 is for Companies.
- ITR-7 is for Charitable trusts.
