Good News for Indian Seafood Industry! EU Approves 102 New Fishery Units for Export in 2025 In an effort to boost the Indian seafood export volumes, the European Union (EU) has approved 102 new Indian fishery units for export from India to EU member countries. The decision came after many meetings were held in the EU and New Delhi, which were attended by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal and Senior Officials of the Department of Commerce. Due to these meetings, the EU was satisfied with the strong quality checks of India handled by the Export Inspection Council (EIC).

This EIC ensures that the export products meet the requirements of the importing countries for their quality and safety. Additionally, another body under EIC, the Export Inspection Agency (EIA), also plays an important role in ensuring that the Indian seafood products meet the global standards. The Indian seafood export satisfies the international requirements, especially the ones prescribed by the EU. This expansion shows that India's food safety and quality, especially for exports like shrimp, squid, cuttlefish and octopus, is being trusted globally. It deeply strengthens India's reputation as a trusted supplier of high-quality seafood. With this EU-approved list for fishery export, 102 new Indian seafood units are allowed to export to the EU in 2025. This will help increase seafood exports, create more jobs, and boost India's foreign exchange earnings.

The EU market is considered one of the most valuable global markets, which highly focuses on the quality of the products. Now the Indian exporters from the coastal states and Union Territories have a great chance to sell their products in the EU and strengthen the trade relationships. The Department of Commerce is committed to supporting exporters by improving rules and building better infrastructure.
