Good News for Taxpayers: ITR Refunds Are Now Being Released After Delay Due to Safety Checks
If you have also filed an income tax return (ITR) and are waiting for your refund to be released. Then there is good news for you. The Income Tax Department has begun releasing ITR refunds that were earlier delayed. The department has given assurance to all taxpayers that the pending ITR refunds will soon be processed and released. The department was notified that this delay is caused by safety checks in the system.
Why Was There a Delay?
The Income Tax Department said that this delay took place because the system was doing extra safety checks. These checks were added to stop fake or incorrect refund claims. The department was ensuring that only the correct refunds were released. Therefore, it took a little extra time.
One of the taxpayers has recently thanked the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman, for her reply to the income tax department. Her reply has helped several taxpayers get their ITR refunds. He says, after her reply, soon his ITR got processed, and thereafter he got a refund, which he greatly needed. The taxpayer is hoping that, like him, the ITRs of other taxpayers will also be processed soon.
Refunds Are Now Being Sent Earlier, the ITRs that were stuck because of system checks have now been successfully processed, and refunds are being sent to taxpayers. What If You Are Still Waiting? If your refund is still pending, do not worry. The department is watching all pending cases closely and actively and will clear them soon. In short, the Income Tax Department has assured every taxpayer that the ITR refund will soon be released; it might be late due to safety checks. These checks are there to make sure everything is correct. Refunds are now being released. However, if you have not received your refund yet, then do not be anxious; it will soon be processed.Thank you so much @nsitharaman after your reply my ITR was processed and I got the refund which was much needed for me. Hope ITRs of others also are processed soon.
