Government Notifies Poppy Cultivation Tracts for Opium Crop Year 2026-27:

The Ministry of Finance has notified the authorised tracts for poppy cultivation in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the opium crop year.

The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has notified the tracts in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, within which poppy may be cultivated on account of the Central Government during the opium crop year.

The opium crop year has started on October 01, 2026, and will end on September 30, 2027. The tracts have been notifed by the Central Government vide Notification No. 03/2026-NARCOTICS CONTROL-I, dated October 23, 2026, in exercise of its powers granted under rule 5 of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Rules, 1985,
