Government permits 15 banks to import gold and silver [Read Notification]
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India, has issued a Public Notice dated April 17, 2025, notifying changes in Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023.
The DGFT has introduced some significant amendments in Part A and B under Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedure, 2023, in pursuance of its powers granted under paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023. Below is the detailed list of the introduced changes:
The following is the list of banks authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to import both gold and silver with effect from FY 2025-26 to 2028-29 (from April 01, 2025, and valid upto March 31, 2029):
The following is the list of banks authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to import only gold with effect from FY 2026-27 to 2029-30 (April 01, 2026, and valid upto March 31, 2029):
