In Chhattisgarh, the State GST department has been actively carrying out raids, and their latest action took place late at night at a Sitar Gutkha factory. Officials discovered a large stock of materials used to make gutkha. The factory is said to be located near Joratarai, close to Jalbandha Road, between Rajnandgaon and Durg, as well as in the Ganiyari area near Anjora. The investigation is still ongoing at these locations.

According to sources, the factory owner was running the factory secretly at night, making workers from Madhya Pradesh operate in dim lighting from 8 PM to 8 AM to escape from the eyes of the tax authority and evade taxes. Based on this information, the GST team planned a strategy and carried out the raid accordingly.

The GST officers conducted a raid at 3 AM in the night in a closed factory in Durg Ganiyari, where the workers were making gutkha. During the raid, the GST officers team seized a large amount of Sitar gutkha wrappers and other gutkha-making material and machines from the factory.

The GST department in Chhattisgarh has been taking action against businesses in the textile and furniture industries over the past couple of days. On Wednesday, their focus shifted to the footwear sector. Raids were carried out at the same time in six districts, Raipur, Durg, Raigarh, Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, and Korba, targeting 17 dealers. During these raids, officials recovered about Rs 2.5 crore in unpaid GST from the traders.

According to the GST department, the raids in the footwear sector were carried out after information was received from the intelligence team. They had received information that several traders in this sector were not paying their GST dues, which led to the raid. Five GST officers had also conducted the raid in Raipur at Saffron Corporate. The project is reportedly linked to Bagadia Brothers Private Limited. One of the key individuals associated with this is also a co-founder of the Aishwarya Group and is connected to the Nilay Group as well.
