GST Tax Officers in Kerala Raided Centres Where Fake Diesel Was Produced and Sold
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Thiruvananthapuram, the Kerala GST officers administered a raid and caught 50 centres in the state doing production and sale of fake diesel.
The awareness and compliance unit of the GST department, including more than 400 officers, conducted the raid in the state. In some areas, the utilisation of fake diesel has increased, mainly in the fishermen community in Kerala. The reason behind it is that the supplier found the fake diesel cheaper in comparison to the real one, and they found it easy to sell.
This fake diesel is now also being used by individuals who use it to run their machines. GST officials also notified that there are few fuel stations that are supplying this fake diesel to individuals.
The GST department has raised concerns regarding this fake fuel not only harms the environment by polluting it but also leads to major issues in vehicles or machinery running on it and damages them.
The GST department has discovered that there is a mafia engaged in this huge illegal activity, producing and selling fake diesel, officials said.
The GST officials have cautioned all the individuals utilising this fake fuel and have stated that they will take all individuals associated with this illegal activity into custody.
