Hyderabad-based Chartered Accountant (CA) arrested by CBI in Delhi excise policy case
In a case involving the Delhi Excise Policy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained chartered accountant (CA) Butchi Babu Gorantla on February 8; he was the BRS leader's auditor.
Butchibabu Gorantla, a Hyderabad-based CA, had been summoned by the CBI to Delhi for questioning in relation to the case. He was arrested on Tuesday night because, according to authorities, he was uncooperative and his answers were determined to be evasive.
The CBI claims that Gorantla's involvement in the creation and execution of the now-canceled Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22 resulted in "wrongful gain" for wholesale and retail licensees and their beneficial owners situated in Hyderabad.
On Wednesday, the agency will bring him in front of this particular court.
In connection with the matter, the CBI had questioned Kavitha, the chief minister of Telangana's daughter, in December of last year.
