ICAI Branch Restructuring: Hosapete detached from Ballari Branch
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the regulatory body for Chartered Accountants in India, has recently issued an official notification (F.No. 1-CA (7)/230/2025) dated June 06, 2025, introducing significant amendments in its regional branch structure. The notification is regarding the jurisdiction of its Ballari Branch, which is part of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC).
Earlier, on September 27, 2006, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) issued a notification (No. 1.CA.(7)/(94)2006) under Regulation 159(1) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. The notification was regarding the setting up of a new Branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) at Ballari. This branch was made effective from September 8, 2006, and has since been serving members and students in Ballari and surrounding areas, including Hosapete.
Now, ICAI has decided to make some significant amendments to the previous 2006 notification. In accordance with the latest decision, Hosapete, a city in Karnataka, will no longer be a part of the jurisdiction of the Ballari Branch. Meaning, the Ballari Branch will no longer manage works related to ICAI, such as support, services, or events, for members and students in Hosapete.
This amendment of the detachment of Hosapete (Karnataka) from the Jurisdiction of Ballari Branch of SIRC of ICAI will be made effective from May 27, 2025.
