ICAI Proposes to Allow CA to Work as SEBI Research Analyst

The Institute for Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has proposed to make amendments that will allow a practising chartered accountant to provide services as a Research Analyst. The institute has proposed to amend the definition of “Management Consultancy & Other Services” to include “Research analyst recognised by a regulator“, i.e., Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

The proposal comes after many practising CAs demanded to make this change, and the request has been made due to the efforts of ICAI president Charanjot Singh Nanda. Once these amendments are passed by the ICAI Council, the CAs will be able to work as research analysts, subject to conditions imposed by the SEBI rules.

This is a good opportunity for the entire CA community as it will help them expand their existing knowledge and lead their career path.
