ICAI Set to Break Tradition: CAs May Get Freedom to Advertise
The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, has formed a group to look into whether Chartered Accountants (CAs) should be allowed to advertise their services. Right now, under the CA Act, 1949, CAs in India are not allowed to advertise their services. They face significant restrictions for the same. These restrictions are meant to protect the professional image of CAs and to stop any false or unfair advertising. The goal is to make sure CAs work with honesty and follow high ethical standards.
Their first meeting is on July 2, 2025. If this goes ahead, it could bring a big change in how CAs let people know about the services they offer.
