The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is performing searches at eleven locations in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, including the residential and official properties of an accused IRS officer of the 2005 batch in a case linked to disproportionate assets.
CBI filed a case against the accused IRS officer from the 2005 batch and his wife for having disproportionate assets. It was claimed that the accused received this wealth in an illegal way. It was found the accused was having more money and property that did not match with his known sources of income.
Additionally, it was also claimed that the officer's wife had helped him to possess this excessive wealth to the amount of Rs. 13158291.11, about 156% of the legal sources of income. The accused also invested large amount of the illegal money for buying properties in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mumbai.
During the investigation at these eleven locations, CBI has recovered important documents and digital devices as evidence. The investigation is still going on.
