The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 have been released, representing a critical milestone for ambitious engineers across the country. The National Testing Agency (NTA) revealed the results late Wednesday night. The NTA score does not correspond to the proportion of marks achieved. The percentiles or NTA scores are normalised across multisession papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who took the exam in a single session. In accordance with the existing procedure, the applicants’ ranks are revealed based on the best of their two NTA scores. Paper 1 is for admission to BTech/BE programs at IITs, NITs, and centrally supported technical institutions (CFTIs).

The qualifying percentage in JEE (Main) to be qualified for JEE (Advanced) has reached a five-year high across categories. The minimum cut-off for the general category this year is 93.2, up from 90.7 in 2023 and 88.4 in 2022. The cut-offs for reserved category applicants have also reached new highs, with general EWS now at 81.3, up from 75.6 last year and 63.1 in 2022. Similarly, the minimum qualifying percentile for OBC has increased from 68 in 2022 to 73.6 in 2023, and is now 79.6 this year. The most significant increase in qualifying scores has occurred in the SC and ST categories, with SC’s percentile to be eligible for the IIT test being 60, up from 51.9 in 2023 and 43 in 2022, while for ST it is 46.6, up from 37.2 in 2023 and 26.7 in 2022.

This year, 2,50,284 applicants qualified for the JEE (Advanced), compared to 2,51,673 candidates who qualified for the JEE (Main) 2023, with Uttar Pradesh having the most successful candidates, followed by Maharashtra and Telangana. Registration for JEE (Advanced) will begin on April 27, and these hopefuls will fight for around 17,385 undergraduate seats across the IITs. The examination was held in 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) at 571 centers in 319 cities, including 22 cities outside India such as Cape Town, Doha, Dubai, Manama, Oslo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos/Abuja, Jakarta, Vienna, Moscow, and Washington D.C.

All-India Topper: Neelkrishna from Maharashtra

  • Neelkrishna, a remarkable student at ALLEN Career Institute, gained news for getting a perfect score of 300 out of 300 and a 100 percentile in JEE-Main 2024 session 1. His excellent score follows an astounding 97 percent in his Class 10th exams. Neelkrishna’s passion to self-study is clear, as he devotes 10 to 12 hours per day to his academic activities. Neelkrishna wishes to study B.Tech in computer science at IIT Mumbai.

In an unprecedented achievement, 56 candidates received a flawless 100 percentile. This includes two girls: Saanvi Jain from Karnataka and Shayna Sinha from Delhi. The majority of these top performers were from Telangana, which contributed 15 of the top scorers. Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh followed closely after, each with seven high scorers. Delhi had six achievers on this coveted list.

Interestingly, five students from Rajasthan achieved the rare 100 percentile. This demonstrates both the kids’ hard work and dedication, as well as the state’s educational excellence.
