Juice Seller Stunned After Receiving Income Tax Notice of Rs.7 Crore
Mohammed Rahees, a middle-aged juice seller who has a small shop at the district court in Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), was shocked when he received an income tax notice asking him to pay Rs.7.79 crore.
Mohammed Rahees, who is a resident of Sarai Rehman, could not believe it when he received the notice on March 18, 2025. He did not know what to do, so he rushed to his friends to understand what was written on the notice, which ordered him to reply by March 28, 2025.
Rahees stated that he was advised to consult an income tax lawyer. The lawyer told him to gather his bank account records before preparing a draft response.
Rahees only earns around Rs.400 a day and is responsible for supporting his whole family, which includes his elderly and sick parents. He mentioned that receiving the unexpected income tax notice had caused him a lot of distress.
He said that the shock of the notice had caused severe anxiety and that his blood pressure had risen. He does not know how to deal with this situation.
He also adds that his mother, who is already suffering from depression, has become even more affected by the fear and uncertainty surrounding the situation.
