Labour Law Update: Govt Authorises DGFASLI Officials to Compound OSHWC Code Offences Across Major Ports
The Ministry of Labour and Employment under the Government of India has appointed a Director General and Deputy Director General of the Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes (DGFASLI), Mumbai, to handle matters related to the composition of offences under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code 2020. They have been granted jurisdiction over all major ports in the country.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced this decision in exercise of its powers granted under sub-section (1) of section 114 of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 (37 of 2020), and notified the same through a Notification No. S.O. 2482(E), dated May 13, 2026.
The action aims to ensure proper enforcement and settlement of offences related to workplace safety and labour conditions in dock operations.
