LIC Warns its Customers Against Fraud Calls

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has warned its policyholders in a public notice against fraud calls, phishing scams, and fake calls. It has advised the customers to stay alert and not to share any personal or financial information with unknown persons or sources.

The insurance company has stated that it never reaches out to its customers through calls, SMS, messages, emails or WhatsApp regarding the verification of KYC (Know Your Customers) details. Customers are advised not to share their important policy or banking details if they receive unexpected calls, messages, or emails asking for such information. It has urged customers to avoid answering any suspicious calls or messages, as these types of messages could be from scammers trying to scam people by promising fake bonuses or unrealistically high financial benefits. In case you get such suspicious messages, LIC is asking you to:

• Report fake LIC-related messages to [email protected].
• Report online financial frauds immediately on the National Cyber Crime Portal or call the helpline in 1930.

How do Protect yourself from Fraudulent Calls and Messages?

• Avoid sharing personal details: Do not ever share your personal information, including your bank details, policy information, and OTP, with unknown persons.
• Do not click on phishing links: Be alert for fake emails or messages and never click on suspicious links received by fraudsters.
• No KYC verification calls: LIC does not request its policyholders for KYC verification through calls, SMS, or emails.
• Avoid unknown calls: Do not answer or entertain calls or even messages from unverified sources.
• Avoid making payments to unofficial accounts: Do not make payments to any personal or unofficial account. Make payments only to verified and official accounts for safety.
