Maharashtra FYCJ Admission 2025: Know Important Dates and Details
Maharashtra FYCJ Admission 2025: The Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department has announced the updated schedule for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions 2025.
The online registration process will now start again on May 26 at 11 AM.
This update comes after a big technical issue on May 21, which caused the admission portal to crash within an hour of going live. Due to the disruption, authorities temporarily stopped the process and revised the timeline.
As per the updated schedule, students who are looking for class 11 admission will have time till June 3 to register and and complete their admissions at mahafyjcadmissions.in.
The education department stated that on the initial registration day, due to around 1.5 million students trying to register at the same time, the system crashed. This unexpected failure led to panic among students and parents. Therefore, the directorate suspended the admission process and announced a revised schedule.
Mahesh Palkar, Director (Projects) at the School Education Department, said in an official note that the revised admission dates were finalised after inviting feedback and comments from students, parents, and education experts.
To protect students from fake admission websites, the department has introduced an official WhatsApp information channel. Through this service, students will receive verified notifications, important reminders, and guidelines about the FYJC admission process.
The government has authorised junior colleges to begin the academic year from July 1 if they have filled at least 50% of their total seats. Colleges that do not meet this requirement must start classes by the final deadline of August 11.
In addition, a revised policy on in-house quota admissions has received criticism from several educational institutions. Under the new rules, only 10% of seats are reserved for in-house students, a reduction from the previous 20%. Also, the eligibility is now limited to students who have studied in secondary schools located on the same premises as the junior college and managed by the same institution.
Many people say that the updated policy could negatively affect colleges in cities, especially in urban areas, where space limitations often prevent schools and junior colleges from operating on the same property.
